My husband may possibley be getting a job in Florida servicing the Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Keys area. I am not familiar with the areas and will possibly need to move out there. So I am looking for a good, safe, good school district to move to. Any suggestions?

Sorry, you are out of luck. Five years too late unless we get a major hurricane.

Default wait, there is hope!

hklein,

don't let these "boobs" here get you down. There are some suburban areas (especially in Broward County) that are within your reach. My family lives in Sunrise in a neighborhood called Sunrise Golf Village. You can still find 3/2 houses with a garage for around 300k.

Our neighborhood is very kid-friendly, and is well represented with all age groups, colors, and creeds. Our neighbors to the left are originally from Trinidad, ones to the right are from Haiti, across the street we have a big Italian family, and a nice older Jewish woman next door to them. This is a model UN block!

Houses here were all built in the late 70's and some of the original owners still reside here. A number of younger families (like ourselves) are moving into the neighborhood

My wife & I feel safe here, and have no problem taking our almost 2 year old daughter out for walks at night. I can't speak specifically about the schools since she's not of age yet. Florida, in general, is not high-ranking in secondary education, but there are options available to savvy parents (as I'm sure you know)

(*if you're husband's job will take him from the Keys to Broward---I hope he likes sitting in traffic *)
