Best:

1. Weather (yes, dry and wet season)
2. Proximity to interesting things (e.g., the Keys, SoBe, Las Olas, Everglades, Orlando)
3. Beaches and warm ocean

Worst

1. Driving (terrible drivers, lots of hit and runs, and no public transportation)
2. Poor customer service relative to other cities, especially in big box stores
3. Crime (not as bad as some other cities, but it still exists)

Best:

1. Weather

2. Proximity to exotic locales (the Keys, Bahamas)

3. Blue/turquoise water - not green like the rest of Florida...

Worst

1. Driving (terrible drivers, lots of hit and runs, and no public transportation)

2. Poor customer service everywhere...

3.Rampant immigrant influence...most impoverished and from the 3rd world...

That has been the deal killer for many decent Americans wanting to move to Miami over the last couple decades. Most have left, few have come, and now Miami-Dade has a pitiful representation of both white-non Hispanics and the lack of a definable middle class.

Most of Miami-Dade is like a huge Spanish Harlem, with pockets of class here and there.

Why is Miami Dade being discussed on the Ft.Lauderdale Forum ?

Rock, if you check OP's title and original post, you'll see he requested information on the greater miami area including Hollywood, Boca and Lauderdale.

I live in the heart of Brickell. There are about 25,000 full time residents here, and nearly 190,000 people who commute to my area every day. As you can see, the jobs-to-residents ratio is very high.

This is like 1/4 of the Brickell skyline....

Best
- No cold winters
- Clean city, appealing to the eye
- Close to many attractions (the Keys, Orlando, cruises, main international airport.

Worst
- Poor public transportation (a car is a must)
- Rents/homes are expensive compared to salaries
- Not too liberal
