So does anyone have any info on Lauderdale Be the Sea? We found a house there we really like but I know nothing about that area. Is there anything to do in that town at all as far as bars/clubs, theatres, shopping etc? How far of a drive is it to get to Las Olas or other areas of entertainment? How about the drive to the airport? Anything you can offer of this area would be greatly appreciated!

I actually used to live there about a year ago on bougainvilla dr right off of a1a. On the pier there is alot of little shops and restaurants. Las Olas is not far at all maybe 10 minute drive or $20 in a cab. the airport is also not far maybe 15-20 minutes. Overall I really liked the area just had to move because I was partying to much.

I live close to Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and it's one of my favorite areas because there's still a bit of an old Florida beach atmosphere to it, although there's been a lot of upscale townhome/condo construction in the past few years.

Addressing your questions:

Bars, clubs, shopping, etc.: Cafe Aruba on the beach is always hopping, and there are several other good bars and restaurants in town. Go about five minutes south on A1A and there's an entertainment mini-district with Shooters and a few other bars and restaurants. There are quite a few small shops in the downtown area, a Publix supermarket is on the northern edge of town, and, for something more, the Galleria's about 10 minutes south. Best of all, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea is very walkable and almost everything in town can be reached on foot.

Drive times: Agree with the previous poster. Las Olas is about 15 minutes maximum and the airport 20 minutes.

I used to live in Lighthouse Point and passed through there all the time. It really was one of my favorite parts of FTL.

Its a great place. You should put it high on your list of places to live, especially if you want a beach condo.

wonderful place to visit and live. There is a heavy police presence as well to deter crime.

If I ever decide to move near the beach, this area would be first on my list.
