My husband, baby, and I are living in Miami with my family while we look for a place to live. We were thinking about staying down here (Palmetto Bay area), but are beginning to think Broward might be better for us. I grew up down here and I just feel like it's a little too crazy down here for us. I'd really like to live somewhere that has more of a small town feel, with nice families who care if their 14-year old daughters are wearing miniskirts and going clubbing all night. Somewhere where the houses aren't all on top of each other and the traffic is out of control. At the same time I don't want to live on a farm 45 minutes away from the closest Target. Does this place exist???

tsk, tsk...

In Broward, check out Southwest Ranches and west Davie. Compelled, is right to a point. These areas are comparable to Palmetto Bay, but the big difference is that there will be a lot less density surrounding you. You avoid the insanity that is US1.

Even the homes look similar in Davie/SW Ranches, although there are also less trees. Although there is no US1, there is also no Ludlam Rd or Old Cutler Rd. Then again, nothing in Broward looks like west Perrine...

Cooper City might be a good option .... it has a small town feel and people are pretty friendly .

The Palm Beach County cities such as Boca Raton and Delray Beach seem to have more of a small-town feel and mentality than anywhere in Broward or Dade counties. You might want to consider those areas or possibly further north. The problem though is those places would be a far commute if you work down in Miami.

No way, they have more of a South OC feel.

You should take a look at Lighthouse Point. Very small town feel.
