I am potentially moving to the Ft. Lauderdale area for work and I am looking for advice on places to live. I am 25, no kids, & single, so I'd rather avoid the "family-oriented" areas (if any exist in the greater Ft. Lauderdale area). Any thoughts on where to look for a 1br apartment would be greatly appreciated!

What type of an area would you prefer - beatnik-ish/bohemian or upscale/yuppie?

if I could join in on this conversation as well that would be great. No point in starting a new thread... I'm 35, single, no kids and looking for a neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale. Something that is upscale, hip, with restaurants, nightlife, etc. Single upscale professionals... Thanks a lot!!

Thanks a lot. I'm using the google street view to see Las Olas and it looks amazing. Thanks! For your other suggestion FL Beach - any area in particular or where Las Olas Blvd meets up with the beach?

Same basic area, just closer to the beach. Would be fun to live in that area in a condo on the beach, altho the beach area does attract a lot of tourists and people from Ft Lauderdale proper giving it a kind of mixed atmosphere and not as upscale as Las Olas further inland.
