If you are willing to drive more than an hour, agree with the above.

If you are looking for strictly a nice beach, I would personally say Hollywood North Beach because it is quiet (not so many buildings) and the water is usually not bad at all. It's also second to Dania for being the closest public beach to Weston, and usually only takes me about 20 minutes to get to. 595 east to US1 South, left at Dania Beach Blvd, straight down A1A, and turn down any street towards your left.

My favorite beaches are in:

Hollywood - Beach 1. take Sheridan Street east to A1A, go north and park on any one of the streets on the right. Park and pay master meter, leave your ticket on the dash. Use quarters, bills, and sometimes it takes credit cards.

Hollywood - Beach 2. take Sheridan Street east to A1A, go south and park near Johnson Street. This area is packed with Canadians in the winter, and its my favorite place to have pizza off the boardwalk. Ask for the Canadian Pizza (pepperoni, mushrooms and peppers).

In this area there are several points of interest - last I looked, an organic farmers market is at the building that is on Hollywood Blvd and the beach; a restaurant near by called Opa Taverna is fun place to go.

Fort Lauderdale Beach - Beach 1. Commercial Blvd and the Atlantic Ocean. Take 595 East to I95 North to Commercial Blvd., go east until you get to sand. You will either pay for parking on the street at a meter or in a parking lot. There is a pier, ice cream, good Greek food, a restaurant with a view of the beach, and quite a few more options.

Fort Lauderdale Beach - Beach 2. Take East 595, then US1 North. Take 17th Street Causeway east get over the bridge with a view of Port Everglades and follow it to the beach. Road winds north and once you pass the first pedestrian bridge, you are at the beach. This is the main beach - lots happening here with the W Hotel opening in June, check it out, heard good things about it. The Atlantic Hotel has been a few years, and its restaurant at street level - Trina - is a good place to eat and watch the ocean.

Have a good time!

Ft.lauderdale Beach off A1A in front of Beach Place .. shops , nice restaurants ...... clean beach , nice for families and it is off Las Olas an upscale shopping and dining area . It will take you twenty five minutes east on I-595 then north a couple miles on I-95 off on Broward Blvd east ... the whole beach trek from Weston is not more than thirty five minutes on a weekend . I also love Naples Beach or Tiger Tail in Marco Island ... but these are 90 minute drives West along Alligator Alley to the West Coast .
