That was my point. You have 5 Publix grocery stores, but zero Winn-Dixie's, zero Targets, zero Wal-Marts, zero K-Marts, zero shopping malls, etc. There is very little choice or competition in Weston. Just about every other Broward suburb has more choices and more competition. You have to drive for miles to hit other types of stores.

Other Broward suburbs may not have as many Publix's per capita as Weston, but that is because we have other options. I'm not sure I even agree that other suburbs have less Publix's. It seems like everywhere in Broward you have multiple Publix's within 1-2 miles any direction. We have plenty of shopping in Broward.
We used to have a couple of Winn-Dixies in Weston and they weren't that great.

I was hoping that Fresh Market or similar would open instead of yet one more Publix, but that didn't happen. We are stuck with 5 Publixes. But they are good.

Target/K-Mart/Wal-Mart... I prefer not having them. It isn't too difficult to drive 15 minutes to the nearest one.

While this is true, you can be at the Sawgrass Supertarget in 10-20 minutes depending on what part of Weston, and the same could be said for Supertarget in Davie and Miramar. There is also the big Walmart Supercenter at Pines and 184th, but that's hardly a competitor to Publix, and neither is Supertarget. There are Winn-Dixie stores in Davie, and there used to be 2 of them on Weston Road, but they went out of business and that is for a reason. There is a regular Walmart store by Sawgrass and Cooper City, again about a 10-20 minute driving depending on where in Weston.

Seminole Middle School and Tropical Elementary in East Plantation are both "A" schools.

East Plantation (Plantation Isles and that neighborhood by the country club) is appealing, and so much easier to commute from downtown Fort Lauderdale (also more convenient to the Turnpike and 95). You're closer to the beach, and you can even buy an ocean access home and park your boat behind your house. These neighborhoods are nice and do not have HOAs, which is a big plus for some.
