Hey there...does anyone have any connections on where I can get the h1n1 vaccine ? I am very concerned, my wife is 7 months pregnant and I work in the health care field.......so double priorities there. To top if all off, a class that I am attending, one of the students is home sick with a confirmed diagnosis of H1N1. If anyone has any info on where to get this, we desperately need it. Thanks

Call your doctor and her OB. If worse comes to worse, if either of you get any kind of fever, take Tamiflu asap (obv make sure tamiflu is safe for pregnant women 1st). I had the flu last week (not sure which kind - did not get tested, but am suspicious) and within 24 hours of taking Tamiflu, I was close to 100% better. Do not wait longer than 2 days after getting sick to take the Tamiflu. Btw, it worked so well, I will never get sick again without taking it. It actually occurred to me that the whole swine flu thing was a plot by Glaxo Smithkline to get Tamiflu out into the public consciousness. Kidding, but I would not have bothered trying Tamiflu in the first place without all the hype.

According to the Sun Sentinel on Oct 5, the nasal spray vaccine will start to arrive next week in Dade and Broward.
Pregnant women can't take the nasal spray so it will be a bit longer for your wife.

our OB is clueless as are most doctors. They don't offer it and can't lead us in any direction on where to get it.

Personally, a vaccine that they came up with in less than a year won't be going into my 2 year old son, my wife or my body any time soon. I just don't trust it.

I hope you reconsider. H1n1 vaccine is a FLU vaccine...just a different strain of flu. Young kids have horrible complications with H1N1. Please be informed and do your research. Knowledge is power. Every child should DEFINITELY get vaccinated. Do me a favor though...if you are foolish enough to not have your kids vaccinated, if they do get sick, please pull them out of school ASAP so others don't have to suffer as a result. Thanks

I just reconsidered and the answer is still NO.

I am very well informed actually, I'm in the medical field (respiratory) along with other family members, one being an ER physician and 2 being family physicians with about 70 years combined knowledge between us. We have discussed this issue and all come up with the same answer. Too new of a vaccine for us to get. We just don't trust something the FDA appoved so fast.

I'll actually do you and EVERYONE else out there a favor. We will NOT be foolish in sending our kids to school if they are not feeling well.

Now to your original post.....
Unforunately the vaccine shot approved for someone who is pregnant will not be getting into South Florida until the end of the year.
The nasal spray mist (NOT approved for someone pregnant, under 2 or over 49) will be in South Florida in the next week or two.

You can go to www.flu.gov for more information

You stand corrected. The IM version of the vaccine is expected in about 2-3 weeks (the one for pregnant women since it does not contain the live virus), not by the end of the year as you put it.The intra-nasal version is already here in some parts of Florida and this is the live virus version, so it's not recommended for pregnant women.

You are entitled to your own opinion, even though I believe it could have grave consequences. Good luck though

For anyone who will not be getting the vaccine, call your dr immediately to phone in a RX for Tamiflu should you develop a fever. I was better within 24 hours.

I am sure my mom just got hit with H1N1 so I told her to go to the Doc's first thing and get Tamiflu. Thx.

Also, some ladies recommended that she take elderberry.
