Hello Guys,
I was wondering if you could make a suggestion for a state park in the FLL area for a family reunion. We wanted to have different activities(swimming, fishing, kayak etcc), grilling(or you can bring your own grills),gazeboos, bathroom facilities on site, showering, or even a pool.
Thanks

You should visit Markham Park near Sunrise/Weston. They have everything you mentioned.

Golly; I`d suggest Oleta State park in North Dade County. From Cooper City it is about 20 miles away, most of it on I-95, not a bad drive until you exit on to North Miami Beach Blvd. It has a beautiful lagoon to swim in, Great for the kids because the deepest areas are about 5 to 6 feet with a nice shallow sandy beach area. Just outside of the lagoon you can fish. A lot of barracuda are there. One can rent kayaks and mountain bikes. Many barbecues throughout. Quite a lot of covered shelters but I think one needs to make reservations. Bathroom facilities. Public showers to rinse salt water off but no pool.

i love Markham Park, camped there and had several BBQ party. Pretty clean, lots of mosquitoes depends on the time of the year, but it's like that in pretty much all the parks in S FL.

I found pot growing in the bushes there one time back in the 90s, lol

Markham Park. We go there all the time - never experienced problems with insects. It really is a wonderful park.

Oleta and Markam are great parks. There is another park in Broward called Quiet Waters Park. It has everything you listed but kayaking.

Broward County - Parks and Recreation Division (http://www.broward.org/parks/qw.htm - broken link)

Ditto Oleta River. Maybe John U. Lloyd as well.

In Markham Park you can rent a nice pavilion for your event. It's pretty reasonable and there are grills and electric at most o the pavillions there. I also like CB Smith and Quiet Waters. CB Smith is in Pembroke Pines and Quiet Waters is in Deerfield. CB Smith has a water play area for the kids (extra charge but very reasonable). Quiet Waters may have that as well. The Broward County Parks are pretty clean and nice.
