Hubby and I were just hired for downtown positions and need help understanding pros and cons of living close to work. We currently live in an amazing community in Orlando. We have an elementary school age son in a dual language magnet program. I am a suburban soccer/cub scout mom. We are used to 10 minute commute and minimal crime (graffiti, burglary every now and then). We lived in Miami from birth to 2006, so we have adequate concerns about traffic commuting, crime, hurricanes & being close to the water, school safety, etc. We are considering renting a condo/townhome close to Las Olas, in one of the A rated school zones (or private), OR trying to recreate the suburban life we have in Orlando and dealing with the commute. Which would you suggest?
