Weston is a very nice city with an upscale look to it. Well manicured plants and shrubs along the main streets. Everything is kept very nice. Almost too nice. I would say it is better to have a HOA, at least you wouldn't have a 52+ tower in your neighbors backyard like we do in Cooper City.

I echo jjnnino - I have lived in Weston for many years. While other posters seem to have a deep dislike for following rules and HOA - just bare in mind that this is what keeps our area looking the way it does, keeps our property values higher than most, and affords us a really beautiful living experience. If regulations and HOA's are not your thing - then you may want to explore other areas.

I love living in Weston - it's proximity to the airport is wonderful with a straight shot to Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International and also Miami International Airport. We sit approx. 22 miles from the beach and just 1 1/2 hrs. from Naples on the west coast and the beaches of the Gulf.

I have a very close friend who lives in Weston, and I have myself lived in the Atlanta area before being relocated to So. Fla. I would choose Weston without a second thought (mostly for some of the same cultural preferences that others have stated), but there are benefits/tradeoffs to both, obviously. Weston is, hands down, one of So. Fla's finest, most beautiful, and most family-friendly areas. But with either of your choices, you can't really go wrong. For me the biggest downside to Weston as compared to a nice northern Atlanta suburb would be the difference in housing costs - $400,000 will go far further in Alpharetta, Sandy Springs, or Roswell than in Weston.

You are correct about housing as $ 400 K will get you a lovely 4-5 bedroom 3-bath house in Alpharetta and maybe only a 3/2 in Weston . Groceries and utilities also seem to be higher in Weston .

I dunno about that one , both places have their pros and cons ... I lived in Alpharetta for nearly seven years and it certainly was one of the nicest if not the nicest suburbs to live in the Atlanta area ... but we had crime issues , major traffic issues and I saw some serious racial issues just like in South Florida ...... weather was great , change of seasons , nice people for the most part ..... but air quality was horrible , schools are worse than in Florida .... heavy duty uncomfortable red neck factor just South of Downtown .... again both places have their pros and cons .

I've seen the suburbs in Atlanta and they are BEAUTIFUL! I would love to live in one of those actually, nice homes and properties. Weston is a nice upscale suburban area but it's too far from the beach for my tastes...

Weston is beautiful! Some of the South Americans are rather rude and as an Ex- New Yorker myself some of the transplants down there really are harsh and can give the impression all New Yorkers are that rude and snobbish! However, you will find lower crime in Weston then you will anywhere near Atlanta, it is acutally one of the safest cities of its size in the United States. I have been to Gwinett county and it is very nice there, but as far as schools, I have not heard much positive about schools anywhere in Georgia but Weston schools are wonderful and much better then most subpar Florida schools. Cypress Bay High School had an 88 percent graduation rate, high for such a huge school! The pretentious attitude of the people there really does wear you down after a while.

Excuse me and the Atlanta suburbs are not too far from the beach .... try four - five hours !!!!

Atlanta was ok , it does have some very nice areas .... but the traffic , smog red neck factor and crappy schools ( yes worse than Florida ) got to us after a few years .

I prefer North Carolina to Georgia myself .
