I have two male friends in their twenties coming to town and I'm not sure where to take them. They are from "Up North" so I am assuming they want the full South Florida expierience. They are staying at a hotel in South Broward.

I am a always working during the week and my days off of work are spent relaxing at home or going to a wine bar or out to eat somewhere low key. I have only lived here for three years also.

I don't know where to take them out to see... I need a club or two or three to suggest, maybe a few smaller bars, and maybe something fun or something that is what tourists like to expierience during the day.

I have already thought of the following well-known places:

Tootsies (I've never been there and have heard its a fun place to go even if you are not into stripclubs)
Route 66/Riverwalk (I don't know where parking is though)
Space (just because I always hear about it)
Cameo (is it still decent?)
Nikki Beach (I was there once and loved it)

By reading this list, you should be able to tell I don't know much about Fort Lauderdale nightlife.

I live in Miami but since they will be staying in South Broward, I don't want to schlep all the way to Sobe every night

I also want to find a Latin influenced club, bar, or lounge to bring them to. I can think of one place I like, but its in a ghetto neighborhood and no one there speaks English. I need something in between that and Mangos of South Beach. They don't have anything like that where they are from, I think they would totally love a place with optional dancing, latin music, etc.

Thank you for the help

I don't live ther yet, but I hear the w hotel in ft lauderdale is really nice and of course there is the hard rock - I always like that when I go. I have to tell you though if I were your friends and you didn't take me to southbeach I'd be annoyed!

LOL, so I will definatly take them to Sobe.

The Hard Rock is a good idea.. how could I forget?

The W is nice but it may be too expensive for us students. I guess one night would be okay though.

Good luck with the move

all you have to do is walk down sobe and they will be entertained, day or night. the visuals cannot be duplicated anywhere except maybe copacabana in rio.
heck let them pick which club to go into. being spontaneous is fun and there aren't any unsafe clubs on sobe...are there?

driving around is fun with a camera. can you get a convertible anywhere?

Try Brickell. It is far less expensive than Sobe, and there are several really good bars that are very new and nice, yet affordable. Segefredos is very good. So is Blue Martini. Both places have a "Latin vibe/feel". Also, try the new Irish Pub on N. Miami Avenue. You can park in a garage for about 15 bucks for the whole night.

If you go to Las Olas, it is far less "Latin" feeling and more American feeling. Mostly dive bars. But Las Olas is by far your cheapest option. Very few places there charge cover. And the drinks are 1/2 the price of anywhere in Miami. Also, it is very easy to park at Las Olas. They have some parking garages that are about $1/hour.
