Dania east of US1 is nice. There are flooding issues, but unless we have another freak storm like this past December with 14 inches of rain, the flooding is rarely worse than up to your ankles annoying flooding. Hollywood east in the Moffett st area is a worse area for flooding, and with the exception of that one freak storm, the flooding didn't concern me much. We did have another storm in February with five inches of rain (again, unusual), but you could still drive, get around, and there was no water in homes.

You would be near my area, which is pretty quiet and safe. The so called riff raff on US1 tends to stay west. I've actually never heard of homeless people having the energy for doing a home invasion, and agree with the poster who cited them for things like snatch and grab. They do seem to be very fearful of dogs, so a dog will give you added security. I guess you encounter some mean dogs on the street.

I don't think it's bad. The south side seems better than the north, and there is a large Orthodox Jewish presence which maintains a very stable community.

The closer to 441, the grittier it gets. Dania beach off Griffin is shadier, but Stirling doesn't seem bad.

You are referring to the area west of I-95. The original poster is referring to the area east of US1 on Sheridan Street. It seems that the extreme eastern and western portions of Dania Beach are nice, but there is a central column that is very sketchy. The sketchy area is anything west of US1 and east of 95. Once you go west of 95 it is decent, with lots of Orthodox Jews as you pointed out.

Yes, I was responding to a different poster who specifically wanted to know about buying a house in the Stirling/I-95 area.

I also responded in kind to the poster inquiring about Sheridan/east of US 1.

My husband has taken a job around Dania Beach....He will need a room to rent while working until I can move down there. Does anyone know place to rent for reasonable price in decent area?

Yeah if he needs an inexpensive place to stay, check out the Sheridan Ocean Club apartments right there in Dania. They are nice apartments and are some of the most affordable in Broward. Commuting would be a non-factor as his job would be right there in Dania. I believe you can sign a shorter-term lease for 7 months but then the rent prices are more expensive. He might be better off renting a studio or a one BR for $800-900/mo and just running the course of the 1-year lease.
