Ok, so I am a single guy getting ready to move from JAX, FL to SFL. I can move anywhere from the Lauderdale area to Miami. I prefer a newer, pet friendly, highrise condo with a great view & a great walkable area full of bars and restaurants. I was convinced that Lauderdale would be my best bet, but I am having a hardtime finding a condo with my requirements in the lauderdale area. There seem to be some really nice condos in the Brickell area. I work from the house so there is no commute to worry about............

Any suggestions??? I was trying to keep my price around $2,500 a month ............

Brickell is very nice and there is more stuff there than Las Olas. The prices are comparable last time I checked. What requirements are you looking for?

looking for 2 bed, 2 bath and pet friendly with a great view. I have seen some pretty good deals online but have heard horror stories about people putting down close to 10K in deposits only to find out that the condo is just about to go into forclosure.......................Is there anyway to protect yourself against this sort of thing????

I second that, Brickell would be preferred, unless you need to be in Broward for work, which doesn't seem to be the case. I think there are even some buildings with dog walks INSIDE the building (Brickell doesn't have a lot of greel space).

First/last/security + app fee are pretty standard, but I think most of the foreclosure horror stories have already happened.

Yeah you'll need 1st/last/security for most buildings in Brickell. In general, the views are amazing out of most buildings as long as you're up 10+ floors high. I've been in several of the buildings as I have some friends who live in various ones. I can say that there is no better place in the Southeastern U.S. to live if you want great views.

Check out The Tides at Bridgeside Square.. Oakland Park and A1A in Ft Lauderdale.. Both intracoastal views and ocean views, high rise, and pet friendly. I owned a unit in there for a couple years and lived there with my Siberian Husky.. GREAT place to live with some nice amenities too. Quiet area, but close to the beach, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. Good luck!!!
