We are going to Ft LaudMiami area (moving there soon for a job in Miami) in two weeks and need to check some places out. Just wondering if there are any good beachy type towns or towns with character that have good schools systems? Thanks

You can check out Broward County Public Schools for school ratings. I used to live in an area called Poinsettia Heights, it's a neighborhood just West of US1, between Sunrise and Oakland Park Blvds in Fort Lauderdale. Older neighborhood, but well taken care of, updated, and lots of great people. From what I recall, the elementary school in the area had a good rating, but I'm not 100%, hence the web address above.

Good luck! I love it there.

Surfside, Bay Harbor & Bal Harbor, just north of Miami Beach. And, Miami Beach as well. Oops, also Key Biscayne.

Glad that I found this thread. How about middle and high school in east Broward up through Boca?

The OP didn't say what grades, so I hope I am not hijacking the thread.

Good link, Alicia. I will be checking that and GreatSchools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community. But I'd also like to hear from those with personal experience. Made the mistake of online research only when I moved to Jax six years ago and don't want to make the same mistake again.
