Hi I'm looking at a place in Hallandale, between US1 and the golf course, just north of Hallandale Beach Blvd. Is this area actually safe? I know that the outskirts of the neighborhood are a little rundown/low income, but the interior of the neighborhood looks decent enough.

It is a good location being close to downtown Hollywood, Aventura, a good amount of shopping nearby, and a 20 minute drive from South Beach. The beach area across the bridge is very nice. But there are lots of bums walking around along US1. Still, its a pretty good area. Once you go north of Young Circle or several blocks west of US1 the neighborhood declines.

Hallandale has some nice areas and I think you will be pleased with it.
I live in Hollywood, just east of US1 and think it is a great area.

LOL. I have never heard Russian there though. What I noticed is excessive out of state tags. Sometimes you really have to look closely to find a Florida tag.

The West (east Miramar) and especially the North(Pembroke Rd & Hollywood) areas are really crappy.

I know someone who bought a house in Hallandale, right near 95, so pretty crappy, on his credit card for $40,000 Crappy, but cheap and not especially dangerous.

We just spend 3 nights there at the Diplomat Golf and Country Club. Nice area but you have to drive everythere to get around. Lot's of strip plaza's. Not a ton of good restuarants around seems to have a Cuban/Spanish influence. Of course down by the ocean is beautiful if you could actually see it through the huge hotels and condo's.

Anywhere just off I-95 is pretty crappy. You have to go east of Dixie Highway to be in a decent area. Yes there is a heavy Spanish influence due to the close proximity to Miami. There are also a lot of northerners who own vacation homes part of the year and timeshares. That is true just about anywhere near the ocean in South FL though. No different in Hallandale from Pompano or Fort Lauderdale.

Never experienced the Russian influence in Hallandale. There seem to be a ton of Russians on Sunny Isles Beach and in Aventura though. I have heard that the Russian mob owns a bunch of the establishments on Collins Avenue down there.

As far as restaurants, downtown Hollywood is nearby and features some good restaurants. Not sure about Hallandale restaurants. I'm sure there are good and bad ones. I've heard the Chinese restaurants on Hallandale Beach Blvd. are terrible.

That area is ok. It was pretty heavy on retirees, but retirees tend to spend a lot of time at home, and some like to watch their neighbors, so that can be as good as an alarm system.

No good restaurants since the Little Italian tavern closed years ago, but Hollywood is close and has all the good dining options you could need.

My friend still lives in the house we shared south of Hallandale, just west of Dixie 20 years ago, and has no problems. Your neighborhood is actually better.
