My family and I are interested in looking at some real-estate in Florida. I have been recommended to search these particular towns. We are a young family with only 1 child who is only 8 months old, so we are thinking of starting the next phase of our life. We are currently residing just ouside NYC and have a trip booked at the end of the month to visit Miami and look at properties. We are looking for an area that has great public schools, many young families and a larger Jewish area. Is there a preference to either one of these towns? Which one has better public schools or are they both equal? Are there any other towns that are closer to the coast that are comparable to these two? Thanks for responses.

Look at both Parkland and Weston. In Parkland beware of Chinese drywall. Read up on this in this forum. Parkland is lovely as is Weston. Come visit and decide.

Both are nice... I am biased towards Weston since Parkland has a lot of homes with chinese drywall issue. However if I were you, I would take my place of work into consideration. Since you asked for suggestions on other areas, my personal suggestion would be Davie (Western part of it). Good Luck

I would choose Parkland. Your child is young - but the schools are excellent - there are great choices in homes - the only down is that its not centrally located - but really neither is Weston.

Is this Chinese Drywall issue on older houses? I am particularly looking for houses that were built in the last 5-10 years.

The issue is in newer homes and Parkland is the poster child of Chinese drywall. Having siad this, Parkland does have lovely homes without Chineses drywall. Just be prudent as you search and decide. Weston, to the best of my recollection, has not had this issue.

As the other poster stated, much will depend on where you will be working.

I'm going to echo what everyone else has said. Weston hasn't really had the Chinese drywall issue because most of the homes were built before 2003. As far as west Davie, there are quite a few homes there with the Chinese drywall issue as well, mostly in the new luxury homes.
