We've been invited to a wedding in Ft. Lauderdale, will be staying 2 or 3 days and want to be beachfront or close to.

The invitation included a list with "Ocean Manor Resort" and "Sea Club Resort." I found a place called "Lauderdale Beachside Hotel."

Does anyone know of or recommend either of these or something similar? We'd like to keep it under $100 a night. Also, what would cab fare be from that area to the wedding location (the Lauderdale Small Boat Club, which looks to be directly west of the airport?)

Thanks for any info!

Take a look at Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor to see what other folks are saying about these places. I personally can not comment on the places you mentioned.

Have fun!!

Even if you are only going to be here for a short time you need to rent a car. Rental rates are pretty cheap here.

We'll be driving down, but don't want to drive after the reception.

Try posting this on Tripadvisor like the other poster suggested as it is a vacation based website, which this site really isn't. Fort Lauderdale Forum - TripAdvisor

What are you really looking for? Price, be on the beach etc. the place you mentioned is on the north end of the beach and pretty far from the boat club, I used to be a member by the way. Look around the 17 st causway area.

We'd like to be on or near the beach and spend $100 or less, if possible. We don't need anything fancy, since we won't be there much.

The boat club looks like a fun place!

The boat club looks like a fun place![/quote] It's not the Fort Lauderdale Yacht club, you won't be running into Trump. It is more of a hard core boat owners club for people who like boating and working on boats. You will have fun I am sure. It will be tough in that price range. The lago mar is one of the older places on the beach where Johnny Carson used to stay every year and is around $175. maybe a little less. Most people I know stay there when they come down. In fact we are having our 40th high school reunion there in a few months. I am not saying to break your budget but if are willing to go a little more it could make for a much nicer trip.
Beach Front Hotel Fort Lauderdale | Lago Mar Resort Ft. Lauderdale Florida

Not to do a commerical but the the Lagomar is one of the few places that own beach front, it is private beach. You will think you have stepped back through a few decades, it's like Florida used to be.

Thanks, doggie & jhl! I did check out tripadvisor, as well as some other sites.
Just looking for a little input from locals.

Glad I won't be running into Trump, I'd be tempted to mess up his hair!

Will have to check out the LagoMar. Heck, even a short trip like this isn't cheap, might as well stay some place with some character! Thanks!
