I've been searching for a house in several different areas, including Hollywood because of the old Florida style of some of the neighborhoods. I found a really interesting one near Zinkil Park, just west of 56th Avenue. The houses in the neighborhood seem well-kept and definitely improve the more west you go. I've been searching for crime stats, etc. but the police department hasn't updated their info since 5/08 and now require $25 for a grid search. I know it's not much but I wanted to get some informal feedback on the area before I do more.

It seems like the areas that you all are describing are around the area I'm looking at. Would you recommend it?

(I have been following the various threads but the different areas have started to run together and I'm a little confused!)

Off of Washington Street - stay a block or two east of 56th avenue and closer to 46th avenue if you can.

West of 56th and South of Washington Street is NOT the part of the city you want to reside in.

Gotcha...thanks. In re-reading my original post, it looks like I'm directionally-challenged. The house I found is actually on Jefferson, east of 56th but before 54th Avenue, with the backyard facing Zinkil Park. It seems to be on the edge of the good and bad areas. I think that's where my confusion is coming from. Not sure if re-sale will be good despite being such a charming house.

(Edit: the re-sale would be several years after living there!)
