Oh please, educate yourself. The so called socialism of Hitler, Stalin, Castro, those are tyrranies, not socialism, not the socialism descrbied by Marx by any means, it is so easy to knock down something you dont truly understand. Just saying, socialism meaning that everyone can still exceed to their potentials and do what they want but that no one person in the society has the right to keep others impoverished. That has zero to do with the lunatics such as Castro.

Let me know how you make out, in THE Socialist Republic of Cuba
I wonder if they have restrictions on what you can have on your property? What about nasty, thieving capitalists trying to take advantage of stupidity?

Folks, keep the banter local, or the thread will be closed. I give this thread a bit of leeway, only to keep these type of posts in one place.
If you are going to discuss different types of governments, take it to the political thread, or great debates.....it dos not belong here.

For those who perhaps forgotten, it is about Cape Coral.

BTW, I'm in Florida now,at least for a few more days, and enjoying every moment......

Good time to be down, Frank. Half the country is in a big freeze. Might as well stay a little warmer down there!

the purpose of socialism where is exists in most American minds is to serve as an emotional justification for not meeting one's material goals....must be that rich guy's fault instead of my fault.

the rich guys love this loser value system, as it prevents the wage slaves from trying to figure out how to start a competing business across the street from them...because in reality, the only limitation is within the minds of the wage/salary slaves

the first step in a cure is to turn the TV off and get something entrepreneurial going in your off hours and learn bookkeeping.

BINGO!

Thank you.

Here's what a lot of the socialism paranoids think. That the lazy people are taking their money. Someone on the internet with an agenda told them that.

And they spend some much time worrying about who is taking their money that they never seem to work out for themselves how they can be making more money. They are too busy running around whining and blaming everyone else for their own stupidity.

Regarding the topic, Cape Coral has a very high rate of unemployment. It seems that people need to think outside the box or move on if money is needed and not coming in. And stop getting their "education" from websites and e-mails with ulterior motives.

If you don't like the way things are going in Cape Coral you need to petition, run for office, volunteer, whatever. If the majority don't buy into your position, it is still a democracy, so tough. You might have to look for somewhere else to live. This is a big country and the beauty is that we are free to move about it, just like Southwest Airlines.

" Cape Coral can’t account for about $1 million worth of fuel purchased last year, according to city officials.

That’s because there aren’t any monitoring controls in place to determine how much fuel was actually delivered and to detect and prevent any unauthorized use and thefts of fuel, according to city Manager Gary King.

Your point? I'm assuming that this new council took over in 2009. It's been 1 year - to "fix" everything wrong with Cape Coral's previous council-member's doing.

“I have concluded that improved management oversight and control must be implemented as an urgent priority,” King said.

Councilman Bill Deile said he agrees. http://same article

The found the misappropriation, stealing, accountability issues are being taking care of... unless for some reason they don't - I have no issue with this. It is a done deal in the past - correct the mistake and move on / forward.

“ The city has 49 keys to operate fuel pumps, those keys can be duplicated and no one knows how many keys there might be."

"Right now we don't know if we were billed for fuel and didn't get it, whether there were unauthorized purchases or there was a loss of fuel because of evaporation or leaks," he said.

A "systematic" chaos!!

Where is the tax money going?
The never ending problem with leakage..leakage of oil, leakage of water pipes, leakage of tax money
No wonder there is "NO MONEY" to take care of canals or other crucial services.
