" Some struggling homeowners could get as much as an 18-month reprieve from their mortgage payments when a federal program starts distributing $23 million earmarked for Lee County in a few months.


Green said mortgage holders chosen to participate will get up to nine months of payments forgiven by their lender while the federal money will pay for up to nine months of payments.


Green said, “we expect to help about 12,000 homeowners” statewide with $317 million.

The money is distributed by a complex formula including factors such as how sharply housing prices have fallen in a county. Lee County is the worst in the state with a 49.7 percent decline.

Felton said the program will be able to help some people who will be able to eventually recover from unemployment or under-employment, but who would lose their homes without immediate help.

We all know people like this: the ones who do nothing to solve problems but are there to be heard. They'll yell and scream and generally cause people around them to waste time dealing with their destructive behavior, rather than solving whatever the issue is.
