No, I am NOT lazy. If I knew a place was bad, I would never move there. Like I said before, at the time I was legally considered a minor. There was NOTHING I could do but move with my mother. I don't know why I'm getting attacked here. This was simply my experience in Lehigh. It was absolutely terrible. However, that may not be YOUR experience.

Lehigh is VERY rural. But not more so than Immokalee. I feel really sorry for the people who live there. There's not even a walmart to go to. They literally bus their citizens to Lehigh's walmart every weekend to shop. Had I known what I know now about southwest FL in general and been of legal age, I would have NEVER moved there.

I am at the point now where I believe summer weather and pleasant company is 95% of happiness, if, and its a big if, you have a dignified means of paying the bills, and children are not in the equation.

personally, I would want nothing to do with the several weeks of jacket weather that happens after Christmas around and north of Orlando, or the panhandle.

we LOVE it filthy stink'in sweaty hot!

last time down there was one day it hit 97F and we were as happy as clams moving furniture in the sun

65F with Palm trees is just wrong ; - )

as NY is actually SOUTH of my location, maybe I have become a bit oversensitive to weather

we are planning on starting snowbirding this winter, and I am bummed that I have to come back and put up with Canadian April-May and Sept-October weather.

YUP that's the way to live.
Have not had the air-conditioning on once since we moved here last March.
If I wanted to live in the cold I would have stayed where we were.

Well we did move. Back to Texas after ANOTHER catastrophe when we were trying to move to another area of Florida. And I'm 18 now.

Bless you for not having children if you didn't want them. I wish my parents had done that. Sentencing a child to a life of hate and resentment is brutal.

However, wanted children can be a continuous source of delight, not to mention a major backup in your twilight years. Sometimes a kind niece of nephew will take on the role. However, there is nothing like unconditionally loving someone that will carry on your legacy.

You traveled in those areas during unusual cold spells. In actuality, most times there is very little difference between just north of Orlando and Lee County. Both are in the humid subtropical classification.

Now that you will finally experience season you will get jacket season, too. How many days or weeks varies by the year. Gosh, I live 700 miles to the north and we have VERY mild winters.

By the way, the area Frank is moving to is the fastest growing micropolitan area in the country. Clearly, someone likes it.

Paseo is in the middle of two ghetto areas. Granted, they are not right next door but too darn close for me.

You are fond of telling people that they must be in a gated community to be safe. Not true. If anything, it gives the false sense of security. But there are plenty of very safe areas to buy in, without a gate. To me, I always thought that despite all your research, you made an enormous mistake by buying there. It's pretty architecture but the location is not great and it practically sits in a swamp.

I'm glad you are happy with your area, as you should be. But everyone has their own paradise.

an economically challenging childhood in a loving home is the best possible preparation for life

you will find that out once you get out on your own
