All,

In PA, I pay $15 for a local line that gives me free toll free and incoming calls. Since I work from home, I use the phone a LOT, using my cell for outbound and the Verizon line for incoming and toll free calls to conference lines. Wondering what the options are in Cape Coral for hardwired (a.k.a not Comcast, not Vonage) service? It appears Verizon isn't an option.

Thanks for any help...

Geri

Century link should be able to help you I think they are the only landline company around here. But I don't know for sure.
Good luck

Verizon is only far south as Tampa ... I have a Century Link landline that costs $20 a month, plus applicable taxes. Locals & 800 calls are free on that line. I also have high speed from same company that costs another $20.

If I didn't need a fax for biz, that landline would be long gone.

I go to the Verizon in Estero in the Coconut Point Mall area and Century Link for the landline, also for a fax and to make sure I have a clear line in the condo I am renting.

Comcast is not dependent on the internet. You can have a Comcast phone line and not have a computer.

Are you sure you don't mean CenturyLink? Comcast is VoIP through a cable modem.

I'm positive. I've hooked up quite a few people that didn't have a computer. Yes, it is through a cable modem but it does not need a computer. It is called VOIP but it is not the same technology as Vonnage. With Vonnage, if your computer goes out, you don't have a phone.

I use to work for Comcast but what do I know. Maybe you'll believe Wikipedia. Comcast Digital Voice - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Or heck, just click on "Do I need a computer to use Comcast Digital Voice service?" on this page: Equipment | Help & Support | Comcast customerCentral

You don't need a computer, no, but I was told directly by Comcast that the phone requires an internet connection and a special modem in order to have active phone service.

I assume skype and magic jack has been considered in the mix, as well, IF you have interent, there is OOMA, which is a skype/landline hybrid...free calls after purchasing the box

Free Home Phone Service | Ooma

there are also various internet based services that replace a fax machine, incoming and outgoing
