Hello,

I was wondering if there are any apartments/rentals in South Lee or Naples that accept large dogs (Labs)? Possibly going to be moving in the next 6 months, and I've been looking online and haven't seen any rentals that take dogs of that size (65lbs).

Any other direction or advice would be appreciated! I will be communting to Naples (Pine Ridge Rd.). Used to a 45-50 minute commute to work, so that's the distance I would like to stay in. I'm not familiar with any apartment complexes in the area at all. Would a private owner be a better option? I would need at least a 2br.

Also, need to stay in the $800-$900 range and be child-friendly also (7 year old). Willing to pay a big deposit for the dogs if necessary.

Thanks so much!!!

We found out when we moved here, that florida is the most litigious (hope I'm using the right word) state around. Law suit happy around here. I wanted to get a dog but found out your home insurance goes up if you have a dog. Maybe that is the reason you are having trouble finding a apartment that allows dogs. tell prospective landlords that you will be carrying your own insurance to cover the dog, and will most like ask to see proof of the insurance but that may help.

I would have no problem with obtaining a liability policy on my dogs. They aren't on the black-listed breed list

Can i get anyone's thoughts on these apartments in Naples:

River Reach
Brittany Bay

Any others people have experience with would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

Not true. You must be watching all those ads on TV for Personal Injury Attorneys. FL has fewer lawyers per capita than most states half its population. In fact, FL has fewer laws to protect consumers, employees and homeowners. However, I do agree that, as a whole, we are a very litigious nation.

Your homeowners insurance does not go up just because you own a dog. It may go up if you own what your carrier considers an aggressive breed.

Many, many apts in Fort Myers accept large dogs. Take some time to call around and ask. You'd be surprised just how many do take large dogs.

No need to get extra insurance on your dog to rent. Landlords don't require it, they just want a pet deposit and or pet rent to cover any damage by your pet. Labs aren't on the black list, so you should find a rental pretty easily.

Bay Harbor Condos near McGregor Blvd and Cypress Lake Drive accept large dogs. I think the rent for a 2 bedroom 2 bath is around $800 a month plus electric and water. Hope this helps.
