Hi There,

As all you regular posters know, my family is coming to FM next Saturday. We have reservations for a minivan rental for two weeks, and I think the cost will be about $1000.

Does that sound like a pretty good deal, or should we keep looking? Any suggestions on where to get a low cost minivan rental would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Considering it's "in-season" and during the holidays, that's a pretty good deal for a van. You may want to check out the other forums that are budget minded or travel forums for a better response. Car rental companies are the worst to predict the value as the price can (and usually does) hourly based on supply / demand.

Thanks, Stahltkd. I was thinking it wasn't a bad deal but was just hoping that maybe someone might know where I could rent one for less.

Did you try priceline. Name your price. I have done very well on that for cars. Start very low on the offer you want to pay and every 24 hrs up your bid intill you find what they will take for a price you can live with. If it doesn't work you are out nothing except your time. Good luck

As a Realtor you can get a hefty discount. Last time we went to the area I was still an agent and the discount was at least half price. I'm surprised you didn't know. Get on the NAR website, tout de suite!

Try Ro-Lin rental. I got an excellent price on a pickup truck from them once. Home | Ro-lin Rentals | Serving your car, truck, van and motorhome rental needs throughout Southwest Florida, including Fort Myers, Estero, Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Punta Gorda and Naples

Thanks, MN! I will call them today. I always like patronizing the little guy. Would you believe, yesterday I called Hertz and the quote they gave me was almost $4000 (yes, that's the right amount of zeros) for two weeks. I almost fell off my chair ROTL.

That doesn't surprise me here in Florida for a car. I thought Breckenridge ski area was high. But it can cost 12.00 or more just to go over some of these bridges and park your car at the beach all day. But, I guess if someone pays 4,000 for car rental whats 12.00 for the beach. That is how they think in this state now. That is another reason why this area is so broke.Gone are the days of low priced things in Florida.

1000 seems about right for 2 weeks. I would also look for discounts. Google the rental companies example...... enterprise promo codes and discounts. I almost always find somthing like a credit union, employer, credit card that has. Something like 25% off. I go down eenogh times per year that it was cheaper for me to just buy a vehicle and keep it down there.
