Today, I got my 1st water bill for my Townhouse in Bonita Springs, that TH is rented to a single woman, she told me she uses very little water, but the water util bill is over $121.44 (for just 1 single person???)

Is it possible? or is it wild?

Bill: 8/2/11 - 9/1/11
Previous reading: 5900
Current Reading: 16400
Usage: 10500

Water Charge: 54.11
Sewer Charge: 67.33 (monthly?)

Total: $121.44

Is it way toooo high????

That is what happens when the water is owned by the city or county.
Government should be forbidden from being in the water business.
Major conflict of interest when this happens.

The government in Florida is out of control with water and sewer charges. It is only going to get worse because of all the debt and corruption that went on during the boom. But, either someone in your townhouse is flushing a lot of toilets or you have a large drip somewhere. That bill would seem normal for a family of 4 or 5. My townhouse runs about 60.00 per month in cape coral for me and my wife. 38.00 if I don't use it at all.

That seems really high. We are a family of 4 doing 2 loads of dishes each day, 1 load of laundry almost every day, hubby washing his boat once per week and we paid $56 last month for water and sewer and we are in ft myers.

That seems really high to me too. We are a family of two and our water bill is never over $100 amonth even when we run the sprinkler on a 24,000 sq ft lot, run the dishwasher, do laundry, wash the cars, put water in the pool during the dry season and both take showers daily. Was there an initial fee on the bill for a start up service? I would check into it to make sure it is only for one month and that there aren't any additional charges.

The last water bill I got from Bonita Springs Utilities was in June 2009 for a 2 bedroom, about 850 sf. If I recall correctly, the charge was $55. I doubt if the water has increased that much in 2 years. TamRE might be right about a deposit or start-up fee. Usually there's a one month deposit which can be forgiven with a letter of credit, but I don't think it's available if you are using it for rental income.

Edit: I can only find statements from 2008 since I have a lot in storage (I need a huge shredder! lol) The total bill is $45.58, sewer charge is $30.21 so even though that was a few years ago, I doubt if it doubled. Call the billing office. 239-992-0711

Bonita Springs Utilities is not owned by the city or the county. It's a co-op and has a board of directors. You really need to chill out!

Well, I already paid over $220 for deposit and startup fee.

And I got confirmation that my charge %121.44 is my MONTHLY usage (water+sewer), for 1 person townhouse.

I will wait to see my next month bill since I fixed some minor toilet and water heater problems.

One good thing about Cape Coral's dual water system is you can water your lawn twice a week with the sprinkler and unlimited with a hose and only pay $10 a month for the recycled water. My total bill is about $50 a month (still much higher than I used to pay up north though).

That really doesn't make any sense - something is off. Like Riko said, rarely does my bill go above $70. Yes, it's higher than up north - one of the few things. Just consider it a switch for annual car inspections.
