did you check this out? Welcome to The School District of Lee County (you can click on the single school and it will give you its ratings for the last few years)

and for private schools here: Private Schools in Lee County, Florida

No worries you will be just fine here.

Come to Estero, best part of SWFL there is.... I have been here for 2 years now, and it's much better than Cape Coral, or Fort Myers(I have lived/worked in both). You have to drive around here to see what fits you best.

Estero is not better than Cape Coral if you want to have a boat in your back yard.

Oh goodness. First of all, I'd take Fort Myers over New Orleans all day long. Sorry, but I would.

Yes, there are some "bad" areas but I'm afraid that Fort Myers has is going to be "Nap time at nursery school" for you, or as someone else so aptly put it, "Candyland."

Also, the nice areas are very nice. Do you have any idea where you are living, yet?

First of all, most of the schools aren't bad at all, some of them are very, very good, and if you truly do get a failing school you can demand to have your child moved out due to NCLB, so you are NOT in dire straits.

I tend to be reactionary about the schools because I had a bad experience and some folks on this forum can be less-than-truthful to outright-liars-with-agendas. I hate that. We are suppose to be here to help. On the other hand, I don't want to terrify, either.

I like Cape Coral and Estero but you can find some nice areas in Fort Myers, too. I'm not a big fan of Lehigh. It's kind of out in the middle of nowhere for starters. Either way, you'll be find. I bet you'll love the area! Don't panic. And if you are moving due to a job, well congratulations, you are doing better than most people in the country, right now.

I also noticed that you are also interested in Naples. Where you work is going to be an enormous issue. You need to start from there, by letting us know where the job is and then we can advise!
