In what ways is North Fort Myers different from Fort Myers?

North Fort Myers has the reputation of being redneck and somewhat crime-ridden, although I always wondered about that because Fort Myers can be the same in many, many areas, too. It's mostly because of Sun Coast Estates, but it lingers. At one time, the schools were horrible there, the worst in the county but that has changed. We've had a lot of people on the forum say they love North Fort Myers. In fact they were the first people that I've ever known that say they like it there.

There is a lot less population and some of it can be very rural.

Just like Fort Myers you have to know the good and bad areas. In general, I like the areas near the river. Riverfront homes have a skyline view of downtown Fort Myers. North Fort Myers is quieter than Fort Myers. There are areas in the northern part where you can have acreage and even horses. It has close proximity to 75.
