I'm finding 2000 squre feet nice new looking homes for 25k and stuff like that. I no the foreclosures and bad economy are a factor but even for Florida it's rediculously cheap in lehigh. Why?

Because it is the least desirable area of lee county.

and full of restrictions, questionable title, prone to flooding and a magnet for adverse weather. Great place for an investment though if you are thinking on renting out.

all those reasons are wrong.......it has nothing to do with restrictions ( you're thinking Cape Coral) flooding, title issues or weather...it's all about the crime. Lehigh is full of crime.

Lehigh Acres Crime - [domain blocked due to spam]

I live in Port Charlotte, FL and I hear something about crime in Lehigh Acres almost daily on the evening news. Drugs, theft, murder and more. There are a lot of vacant homes in Lehigh that were abandoned because of foreclosures. There are also a lot of short sales. Both of these bring the prices down.

Ugly...desolate...crime ridden... (need I go on) You couldn't give me a house in Lehigh...especially for investment. How could a house at any price fetch desirable decent tenants? So no money to be made in the rental department... Try and sell it in a few years... still no money to be made. So exactly how it the place a hot zone for investment?

25k 2000sqft 3/2?

I just did a search on mls, no such thing.

Cheapest 2k sqft in lehigh is on the market for $27,600 and it is just a pile of concrete block walls.

Lehigh was one of the hardest hit in our area. The real estate market there flooded with new construction, too much so that it brought prices way down. Lehigh is named lehigh because it is the highest elevation in all of lee County.

As for crime, check out:

As far as investment, Lehigh is kind of far out of the way from Ft.Myers where a lot of people would work. So buying a property in Lehigh to rent it might be a difficult task. I would recommend somewhere closer to the city. If you were buying it for a retirement home, there are very nice parts of Lehigh, just like any city.

Hope this helps! Have a GREAT weekend everyone!

There are some sitting on there for a couple of weeks with no bids. Others are actually in Cape Coral, Fort Myers or elsewhere. And I'd question some of those bids. In fact I'd question everything. Best of luck with the Chinese drywall. Yikes! High crime area, no return on investment, might not be worth anything due to CDW? And buying on e-bay? Are they kidding? No thanks.

No joke...the last place I'd even look for home is on Ebay. CDW is some nasty stuff and there are sellers out there ( agents included!!!) who are not revealing this stuff to buyers...it's scary as hell.
