Hi Cape Coral residents! We are planning on moving there in August 2012. Are there any real estate companies that have vacation rentals you can stay in while shopping for real estate and then reimberse the fee if you purchase a home through them? I saw something about this a while ago, but don't know now who does that. Any recomendations on mortgage companies for a VA loan would also be helpful. I am looking for a lender that will be very friendly and work hard to get us a loan! Wish we could get out there and look now, as I notice homes with pools are really selling fast!
Thanks!

Default Rentals for Real Estate Buyers

We are moving from Colorado. We lived on Marco Island many years ago, for just 1 year and moved back here. There just wasn't enough for our kids to do, and a couple of other reasons I won't get into now. My husband will be retiring, and now that our kids are grown, I think we will like it where there are more activities.

You better do your home work before you come here, they want a lot of money for those vacation rentals.

Well I must say, since it has been many years since you have lived here, and you really didn't live here that long, you might wanna rent a year, before you sell your house in Colorado and uproot. Things have changed dramatically since you lived here previously and the differences between Marco and CC are night and day, the only similarities is that they are both in Florida. The worst thing you could do is buy a house before living here for at least a year, get all the seasons out of the way, weather, traffic, people, etc. Obviously it's your life and you will do what you please, but I have seen people come down and are ready to go home after a couple weeks of summer weather or a couple of weeks of season traffic in Feb, but they were stuck because they bought a house before they were sure they really wanted to stay here.

Default renting

Hi, Thanks for the advise, I appreciate it. We rent here in Colorado right now. An average home here rents for $1500-1800. I know rental prices are going up. On a retirement income, we can not afford to buy a decent home here. My mother lives in Tampa, so we are familiar with some of the different areas. For health reasons, we need to move to a warmer climate, and Az does not sound at all pleasing. I agree renting is a good idea, but home prices are on the rise there and interest rates are low. The heat won't bother us, but I will miss my daughter here in Colorado. My husband and I have thought long and hard about all of this. My husband has worked out in the cold almost all his life. He loved living in Florida for the year we were there. So much to take in to consideration!

Yes real estate prices are going up, but for a few thousand dollars, the peace of mind might be worth it. Good deals will still be had in a year or two.
