Bought a house in Punta Gorda, repatriating from Dortmund in June. Anybody know where I might get NRW style Pils in SWF? Danke.

Sorry, just realized I shouldn't have used "Dortmunder" interchangably with NRW - Dortmunder is a lager, like DAB, which is readily available in the US. I was thinking of Radeberger or Jever Pils.

I think your best bet is going to be Total Wine. I'll ask my German friend as well.

I think you will have a better chance of finding BITBURGER PILS. It's the best beer in Germany anyway.

I agree Bitburger is good, but it's a Southern style Pils, and like all beer in Germany, really popular only in it's own region; I dont have figures, but I would expect Bitburger sells more beer in the US than in Germany; Beck's certainly does. In Dortmund, Brinkhoff's, Veltin's, and Thier outsell Bitburger, Warsteiner and Beck's a hundred to one; they're Northern style Pils, extremely bitter and sharp. The beer/food culture here is great. You can go to any city and get in an endless, entertaining conversation about how much better their beer, their schnapps, their wurst and their brötchen are than yours.

Thanks for the tip on Total Wine. Their website looks great, but I couldn't get the search function to work; I'll just drive over there when I get back to PG.

If you want a good pils. Stick with Pilsener Urquell, the original Pils From Plzen, Czech republic.
They invented it and it is still the best, the rest are knockoffs.

I spent three years in Bitburg. It's in the Eiffel region. Maybe I just got used to their beer. However, I have seen it in the US more than once.
Almost every little town had their own brewery. So, I'm sure it would be an endless argument.
