Hello Everyone,

I've lurked here for longer than I can remember and have pretty much mined everything valuable I could find regarding Cape Coral. My wife and I are actively searching for a home there and have considered purchasing something that abuts the now defunct golf course near downtown. I'd like to hear from anyone who has experience living in this area. Specifically I'd like to know...

1. Is the golf course area generally quiet and empty? Any shenanigans going that I should be concerned about? I've heard the police run off the occasional homeless person, etc.

2. I know there is a water tower of some sort and maybe a cell tower there? Are these facilities brightly illuminated in the evenings?

3. I've read a bit about the legal issues going on over the property though I can't claim to understand exactly what's going on. Is there any chance this land could get zoned commercial and I'd end up with a mall or a Walmart in my backyard? Is there a chance it will become an active golf course again?

Thanks in advance!

I don't know any information on that golf course but we bought a house on Coral Oaks Golf course and we absolutely love it! Not very many houses go up for sale on that golf course either and it's less expensive than Royal Tee.

Angelala,

Thanks for your input. The golf course in question seems to have been deserted for a number of years and is overgrown. I like the idea of having an large, quiet empty space behind my home but I'm concerned about what the future holds for the land. I suppose if it becomes and active golf course again that would have a positive impact on my property value.

I'm not sure about the old "Golf Club". But I have heard that the new owner of Lochmoor ( another defunct golf course ) is planning on redeveloping it into another golf course.

Anyone heard that rumor?
