That's a pretty wide geography. Can you narrow it down any further?

It also depends on what you consider 'walking distance' and what you consider 'desirable'. I live about a mile from Downtown CC, which I consider walking distance, and I love my neighborhood. It's safe, quiet, all single-family homes that are all well cared for - I'm very happy here.

Anything closer than 1/2 mile to Downtown CC, not so much. There are more apartments and rental properties that aren't always well maintained, more commerce and more empty lots.

I moved down here from the DC area back in May, having never lived in the area before. I spent an enormous amount of time doing online research and looking at neighborhoods using the street view of Google Maps, and I was able to find a neighborhood that I could afford and that I liked. When I moved here, it was exactly what I expected - no surprises. If you are not familiar with the area, do your homework, and I highly recommend using Google Maps to get an idea of what the neighborhoods are like.

Ditto all of that and last but not least......walk around the neighborhood for several blocks, day and night so you can check for loud parties, barking dogs or other annoying stuff.

Good point - Google Maps can't tell you about the noisy neighbors!
