need a peaceful rental near bus line etc.. (Cape Coral, Fort Myers: low income, apartment)

Let me kick this out to see if I can develop some answers for a major decision. I would like to live in a warm climate and Fort Myers is the destination in mind.
After reading in the forum here for a while it is difficult to pinpoint where a suitable residence for me and my wife is there. I will not have the opportunity to come down and check it out.

It so appears that in Fort Myers there is much riff raff around, noise and conjestion, and holes available to fall into.

So besides seeking for a clean and restful place to settle I am looking for a dwelling that will cost not much more than $625 monthly, that including utilities if possible. One bedroom apartment, large studio, or mobile home will do.

I am age 62 and low income. I will need a close by bus service for grocery shopping and trips to the doctors and government offices when needed.

I work part time doing food demo events in Sam's Club so if Sam's is on busline that is a plus, I hope to continue with my company there.

That's the start for it now, as many other things will need to be searched out as I move ahead.
I will need solid info on available medical specialists, and eye clinics that accept charitable financial coverage, and so the list goes on.

Just a point in the right direction would be helpful to me.

Wow... good luck with that requirement list. The reality is... even though 675.00 would get you a long way in certain parts of the US (including Pittsburgh PA) it won't get you far in Ft. Myers, unless you rent in the "undesirable" areas... You might catch a break, but try and look places around or South of College Pkwy. North of there you really run into the ghetto areas. (although there are some decent communities speckled here and there)

This is interesting (although there are some decent communities speckled here and there) to me as I know an old friend who lives (snowbird still at presant) in North Fort Myers, in a trailer park. I did read many negative comments about North Fort Myers on citidata and I am not taking it with a grain of salt either, but my friend said that it wasn't that bad. Maybe she lives in a decent area. Then again peoples perspectives on things can be a lot different depending on their past experience and personality.

The concept of North Fort Myers that I am forming although is that it is not a pleasant area. At least not for me as I have been living in an extremely peaceful city for many years here in New Hampshire. We have developed some crime and low bottem areas that are getting worse with time though. I would make all efforts to avoid that kind of enviornment.
Caos, noise, and bad energy certainly not my cup of tea.

If I make any progress or have other input I will post again as time goes by.

Although it might not get you to far in Fort Myers, you can however look into the Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte area. That will get you into a condo, it might even get you into a condo in Cape Coral. It will not get you into anything that will include utilities. Also, the bus lines here leave a lot to be desired. Yes they will get you where you need to go, but to rely on them would be a huge mistake. You might have to leave 2 or 3 hours early just to make sure you get where you are going on time. There are many transfers that can leave you waiting for long periods of time for the next bus.

Great tips and guidelines! Three hours one way on bus line, I am out of my mind already!

I did locate a great place below College Pkwy that has the whole shabang and even washing machine and dryer! But I am shooting at a money figure that will wind up close to $1000 a month. If I get work there it could be possible but playing with chance as chance is could be a futile end. I have too much responsibility carrying the anchor that could hold the ship down.

It would be a plus 2 at courage against chance and perhaps the last great adventure! :0)..
