Has anyone experienced any problems with using recycled water to wash their cars. I just got a new car and don't want to mess up the new paint. Thanks.

It's pretty disgusting water to be soaking your hands in. I splurge and spend the $2 on the good stuff. The biggest issue would probably be the water spots. I also know that when the recycled water is gone they use it from the lakes, which is why they have those big shell filters on the lines, so you might have shells and pebbles coming out of the hose. I'd recommend using the good water on a new car or just go to the car wash.

DO NOT USE IT ON YOUR CARS ETC. The marks it leaves behind are very hard to remove. Save it for the lawn.

Use the good stuff, rik.
There is a lot of microscopic solid "content" in the recycled stuff, as well as a healthier dose of sodium (salt, corrosive, ya know). I equate using that water to wash anything, with using a sandblaster
Probably a lot more gunk in the good stuff they're not telling you about also.
When the city buys my car for me, or offers to paint it every few years, I'll wash it with whatever they tell me too.
Of course it all depends on what is most important to you. Different folks put differing levels of importance on their car's finish.

It's your water, you're paying for it, do what you want with it. They haven't restricted the usage yet for the dry season as far as I know, which is the only restriction I am aware of and would only change the day you are supposed to use it. It's not like you are filling a pool with it. I'd assume a very long car wash on a very large car wouldn't use more than 50 gallons of water or so?

Most of my neighbors and I use an inline "water filter" when they rinse their cars. There are many filtering systems available online and at your local hardware store, typically for less than $30.00, and each cartridge will last for a couple of years unless you wash your car daily. The recycled water leaves difficult to remove spots otherwise. You can wash with the filter on but that will shorten its useful life.
