Speaking of FMB.......is there ANY free parking there? 2$ an hour is a little stiff!

If you have a Lee County parking sticker, you can park at the Bowditch Point parking lot for free. Kind of a hike to Times Square, if that's where you're headed, but they have the trolley that will pick you up.

Let me also add that if you're just looking at a map without knowing the ecosystem of South Florida, the extreme southwestern portion of the state is swampland. No usable beach-front property to develop on there.

Well, someone has to pay to keep Lynn Hall Park and Bowditch Park looking so beautiful. The pier wasn't cheap either.

Maybe the huge beach at Cape Coral is free. If not, it is probably free to go sit beside a canal at Lehigh.

If you eat at Nervous Nellies you get to park for free. We eat there and then go for a little walk around the area. Good food, good service, good beer and FREE Parking, now that's a deal.

Let's be clear, Lee County charges $6 a pop to cross the causeway. It's Sanibel only once you are off the bridge.

Sanibel police patrol Sanibel.

$6 is a bargain. Try paying $15 to cross the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge between Staten Island and Brooklyn.

I was towing my boat from Florida to Mass last July some of the tolls around Maryland, Delaware , new York , and New Jersey were like $21 each. I had to have spent over $100 going through those 4 states. and I had zero enjoyment while there.

I lived near there for years and frequented Sanibel.....It is worth more than $6. I spend that at McDonalds without batting an eye and I get so much more for my $6 on every visit to Sanibel!

Kev....same thing happened to us.I couldn't believe the tolls on those roads. Now we take the Mass pike to 84.Then 81 all the way down to Kingsport,Tenn where we pick up rt 26 which takes us back to 95 south.
Avoids all the tolls, major cities and a very pleasant ride. There are a few small mountains.
