Hey Everyone!

Looking for a horse farm. Lived in Cape Coral back in early 90's. Ran the CC 4-H Center off SW 20th Ave. It was great! But then got transferred back to New England. Now looking to retire and live closer to family in CC. There is one place way out off Huffmaster Road in N. Ft. Myers with 20 acres and mobile home. (Not thrilled about mobile home BUT ... nice barn/acreage/etc. - a bit far out? 45 mins. to CC?) but don't know the area. Would rather be along the Burnt Store Road area of CC .... more towards Pine Island. Have been scouring the 'homes for sale' and there are a few. But need to know, too, how wet? Sand Rd, Durden Pkwy, Janis Road area?

Can anyone offer any helpful suggestions or even if you know of a farm with a minimum of 5 acres that might be available?

Thanks for any help.

i think you'd be better off looking in pine island or unicorporated lee county. the utility ex[pansion in the nw will cripple all of those large acreage lots

The lots on and near Sand Rd are very, very wet, they are also expensive for what you get. The are in the $100k range for 5 acres with absolutely nothing in the way improvements to the property, in my opinion you would put far more money into those lots than they will ever be worth. Check Pine Island as someone else said.

OK, I was thinking they'd probably be pretty wet. Thank you.

Looked at a house off Saddlewood Ln. Was near some horse farms. Pine Island rd. Right near Bubbas Steakhouse. The house was for sale, had a out building, and some land. Not sure if the horse farms were though.

Saddlewood is where we first boarded our horses when we moved down there in the early 90's. I'll check it out! Thank you.

I was looking at the lots on sand rd, 10 acres for 100k, with a 2 acre pond. City of CC said " In 2009 Sand rd was exempt form the utility expansion, but they CAN NOT guaranty that in the future." If the city were to push all three service thru the area and based upon the current 10,200 assessment of for all three utilities based upon the 10,000 sq ft average lot, You could be looking at an assessment of $441,000. Will it happen??? who knows.
The lots do look very nice, lots of ponds in the area, used to fill in other area, im guessing.

Good luck on your search.

I did also run across a 40 acre parcel (old golf course) near NFM for 350k (i think)... It has a older pool home in need of repair, but its 40 acres......

i live in North Fort Myers myself and I work in South Cape coral. I live off Slater Road/Nalle Grade. It is about 25 Miles one way for me to get to the office in Cape Coral and it takes me about 30 Minutes - there are ways to avoid all major Roads so you don't run into a lot of traffic. I love it in North Fort Myers and would never live anywhere else
