A few nights back, I think it was Sunday, there was a short mention on the NBC 2 news about many reports being called in about loud booms from a clear sky. Heard from Cape Coral, and down to Estero.

I personally didnt experience hearing anything, but was interested enough to follow up, and cannot find any further info on the local level. By googling, it does turn up much of the same phenomena occuring around the country in the past couple of weeks.

Was wondering if anyone here had heard the "booms" or any more information regarding it on the local level.

YC.......

I did hear something a few nights ago--I thought it might have been fireworks but it had a different "tone" to it.

Ditto....... I looked outside to see if I could see any fireworks, which I did not. But I remember that it seemed to be coming from the south (I live in SE CC). I was on the phone at the time and dismissed it pretty quickly as fireworks off in the distance, but I remember being surprised that I could not actually see them because the sounded like they were very close by.

What I heard from a friend was that they were doing night air refueling maneuvers over the Gulf this past weekend out of MacDill in Tampa. So what may have been heard were sonic booms resonating over the water.

My nephew is in C-17 flight school in Texas and has to do this very same procedure in air. Quite interesting!
