I have known and been around 2 pitbulls in my life and got to know them pretty well. One was a a lap dog incredibly affectionate named "Grunt"-great dog

The other one was pretty scary (would charge the gate etc) and not too trustworthy. His owner was a young college football player, and liked having a "bad ass" dog. I am pretty sure the dog picked up on the owners vibe.

I live mostly in Bozeman Montana-but own a home in NP. Bozeman was recently named the number 2 most friendly dog town/city in the US by Dog Fancy magazine. We have hundreds of miles of hiking trails nearby and several great off leash parks in town including one of a hundred acres or so with 2 big ponds. We love our dogs here-when I see a pitbull (very rare in Bozeman actually) come up to meet my yellow lab-I get really nervous. Cause I understand what those pittie jaws are capable of. If the pitbulll did turn aggressive-what could one do against that sheer power and huge jaw muscles?

No other breed causes me this feeling. Sorry-but that gut feeling is hard to overcome. As a rental property owner I would have a really hard time renting to a person with a pitbull-We have rented to people with all kinds of other dogs though

To the OP-good luck!

In addition, you don't have to worry about being attacked by a pit bull when you are taking your grizzly bear for a walk.
