We are taking a family trip to Ft Myers in early June. We are looking for an inexpensive, safe, clean and child-friendly hotel. Preferably one that serves breakfast. Thank you.

Last July when we were moving here from out of state.....we stayed for 4 weeks at Fort Myers-Sanibel Gateway. It is an extended stay facility but also have shorter stay guests. It is not a luxury hotel....but it is very nice and provides a safe, clean atmosphere...we loved it. they don't serve breakfast....but we had a 2 room suite with a kitchenette.....very comfortable. It is convenient to the beaches.....not near down town or shopping amenities. Staff were great. Free laundry facility and free coffee 24 hrs a day. Nice pool. Price was very reasonable. We would stay here again and if traveling will look for Candlewood facilities.

This hotel is truly dog friendly.......they seem to love dogs!

If you have kids.....keep your eye on them....we did see alligator behind the hotel near the game preserve and over in the park near the school, there was a large one in the pond.

You can check trip advisor. I always use that when I am going some place that I don't know.

Good idea. Not all the reviews are reliable, but at least that site lets people post both positive and negative comments.

At least the OP will be here in June. Right now even the really creepy motels are expensive.

EDIT: I just noticed the subject also says "Sanibel" and "luxury" which is entirely different from staying in Fort Myers in a budget hotel. I'm a bit confused. For Sanibel and Captiva, use the Chamber of Commerce site here.
