Where do you suggest I start?

calling local property managers would be your best bet or looking at Craigs List online (however, I personally wouldn't rent a rock on CL, but that's me)

You really need to do your research now...your choices are limited because of the dogs.

When you find an area post here and ask us..we'll tell you yay or nay. Genereally, anything in S Fort Myers is ok...just stay aways from Harlem Heights.

Countrysong, not trying to berate you about your pups....I have critters, they are like family and we could never get rid of them.Just wondered why you got four insted of one or two, knowing how hard it is to get housing.
I still think you'd be better off to buy and here's how I'd go about it.I know people dump on Lehigh Acres but there is a lot of country out there and,if you shop carefully ,you can find a nice neighborhood of like minded people.Prices are very reasonable and there are lots of owners willing to finance.I'll bet you can find a nice home with a big yard, already fenced in the 60k to 80k range which would give you a payment under $500......try to rent for that.Good luck

Be careful with craigslist but don't rule it out. I rent from there and I have always had great success with good quality tenants. Good luck!

the tenants aren't the issue...it's the fake ads and the scammers that are making CL a place to avoid for some things.

Thanks for all of the input. I've had the dogs in an apartment in Maryland long before I even thought I would be moving. I didn't get them all at one time! I have a lot of places saved from realtor.com that say they allow pets, but I need to call and ask how many. If any one you like searching for houses, feel free I go to realtor.com and look for rental houses in Fort Myers. In the advanced search I put pets allowed. Many properties come up, I just don't know if they are in good areas. Thanks again!

Yes, it's a nice area.

Steer clear of San Carlos Park....having said that, there are a lot of rentals down there and you might find a place that will take 4 dogs.

Good luck and I hope you find something.

I've heard not to go to San Carlos Park, but they would allow dogs. I wish I could just purchase a house, but I'm not sure how realistic that is.
