I believe Jamaica Bay is in the Ft Myers area, Lee County, if not, I'm in the wrong place. We vacation at Clearwater Beach a lot and a friend was looking at this area near Ft Myers to purchase a getaway home. We live up north in NJ. I looked at the site and it seems the houses are very low in price. Any feedback as to this or the area for a getaway home?

There's a place called Jamaica Bay a little bit south of Fort Myers on Rt 41 (S Tamiami). The houses are very low in price because they're manufactured homes (double wides and triple wides) on leased lots. The homes look like they're pretty close together and the highway is close to the community on 2 sides which might mean traffic noise and car headlights in some areas. It's definitely conveniently located to shopping and restaurants. When the snowbirds aren't around, it would be a quick trip to Fort Myer's Beach from there, and not a bad drive to Naples. Whenever you see low home prices in a community (gated or not) you need to take a look in person before making any commitments.
