Has anyone heard what is happening on the west side of Veterans Pkwy across from the Golf Course? Went through their yesterday and all the trees are cut down for about a half mile. Searched all the information available know one seems to know.
The proposed Wal-Mart was supposed to be up across from Bubba's so I'm thinking its not that. I hope its not another shopping center.

I'm wondering this too. Drove by yesterday, and that's a heck of a massive clearing they're making. My searches have turned up nothing as well.

It appears from Lee County Property Line that the property is owned by Lee County. Something ugly could be going in there.

I found a map on lee co Web site that says it's"upland conservation" land, if I matched the color right. Slashing and burning seems like a peculiar conservation method, but who am I to judge?

looks like they are getting rid of the non-native plants or invasive plants

Thought it was odd if they were clearing it for development, that they would leave all the Palm trees standing and level everything else.
If they are removing non native plants or trees, I think they could use our tax dollars more wisely.
I ride that bike trail that runs next to the area, the trees gave it a more rustic feel. Now its just a wide open field.
Thank you for the responses.

Rats. after living in bonita for a while, where almost everything west is the tracks is a walled off elitist colony, the fact that CC isn't overrun with them is one of my favorite things about it.

True. I dislike the East coast of FL for the same reason.

Just read on the Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce site that they're removing invasive spicies and trying to 'put it back to the way it was', for lack of a better term. Article said the native species will start to grow as soon as the rains start.
