According to the research done via the state of Florida, all the units in Sail Harbour, Fort Myers (off Bass Road) that were tested for radon, (100% of tested units) tested way, way over the safe levels for this deadly gas. According to the state, the addresses of the professionally (not home tests) tested units reported to the state that also had elevated radon results (levels known to cause deadly disease) were:

16000 Via Solera Circle
16098 Via Solera Circle
16220 Via Solera Circle
16159 Via Solera Circle
16074 Via Solera Circle
9817 Boraso Way
9828 Catena Way
9836 Catena Way
9800 Solera Cove Point
9816 Solera Cove Point

Addresses in Sail Harbour that had no elevated test results: NONE.

But you should be OK in there if you don't breath.

Thanks for posting this. Wow! I feel badly for the residents who are trying to sell their homes. Some of the properties you listed sold for over $307,000 in 2006. (Source: Lee County Property Appraiser website)

Can you provide a link to this report?

You're right. I just found another thread about this matter from several months ago, also with no links.

I would like to see the proof as well. Surely this must be something in the News-Press or mentioned in a Florida DOH report.

Edit: There has also been a poster on a competitive site complaining about this community.

Can you tell me EXACTLY what level (pCi/l) is considered dangerous for everyone? If they're elevated, what does that mean? .0002pCi/l is elevated over .00000002pCi/l right? Is that considered an unsafe level? To who? Why not 5000pCi/l? or 30,000pCi/l?

Can you tell me if these tests were performed during, or shortly after a rain storm?

Or are you just grinding an ax?

Default The facts are...

Maybe several individuals performed their own tests but neither the EPA, State or Local Health Offices have conducted official radon tests in the community.

If you have concerns simply have a test performed to find out if radon is present in your home. If the test reveals an elevated level of radon, a mitigation system can easily be installed and will reduce the radon to a harmless level.

Default The Facts Reveal...

The State of Florida Department of Health does not provide test results for individual houses or neighborhoods but only zip code based statistics of radon levels in buildings in Florida. This data is taken from reports submitted by state certified radon testing companies. As such, it is not based on any scientific sampling methodology but sampling driven solely by those willing to pay for professional radon testing.

RISKS:
Health risks of radon
http://www.epa.gov/radon/healthrisks.html
http://enhs.umn.edu/hazards/hazardssite/radon/radonharm.html
http://www.doh.state.fl.us/environment/community/radon/radonfaq.htm
Children exposed to radon will have higher estimated radiation doses than will adults. http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/csem/csem.asp?csem=8&po=9
or google for sources you prefer.

SOURCE:
There is no on-line report. However, if you contact the state Radon office and request all the results from any area you want, the results will be sent to the requester. All results done by certified professionals (not home testing) are public record. It is a bit of homework, but it is necessary due diligence for anyone interested in health for them and their families.
