When I first started coming to Fort Myers a long time ago, the local nightclubs used to play such great music. A couple of them even played a few slow songs here and there throughout the course of the night. In fact, once when I went to the Ricochet on Winkler and U.S. 41, they were playing a format of music similar to that of a high school prom or Valentine's Day dance. Roughly 20 minutes or so of fast dancing, nightclub music, and such, followed by about 10 minutes or so of slow songs/slow dancing, and the Ricochet had literally the exact type of slow dancing you would find at a high school prom! Then in 2012, I checked out the Dixie Roadhouse in Cape Coral, and even they were playing a similar type of format (regular nightclub music plus about 25-35 percent slow songs; once again, the exact type of slow dancing you'd find at a high school prom or Valentine's day dance).

But as it appears, not only do hardly any nightclubs at all in Lee, Collier, or Charlotte County play slow songs today, many of them now only play country music and have only country line dancing. Today, not only is the Ricochet obviously still closed and up for lease even as I write this post, but since 2013, Dixie Roadhouse has been no less than 80 to 90 percent country line dancing, every single night, from open to close. Even regular social dancing has seemingly all but gone the way of the wild goose as the clubs just enjoy filling the night with only country line dancing. Dixie Roadhouse also doesn't even play a single slow song anymore until maybe, just maybe, the last one before the club closes for the night. In fact, the only club it appears within less than even 70 miles of Fort Myers that I can possibly recommend for those looking for anything even approaching slow dancing is Club Blu on Evans and Carrell (about a block east of Fowler), and apparently in an area that can get kind of iffy in the middle of the night. Every Friday evening, Club Blu plays R&B Soul and Old School music, they also have a dance floor, and the club is open until roughly 2 in the morning.
