I was looking at a home on Hawalaska St., near I-82 in Lehigh Acres to purchase to retire in Florida. I have heard that parts of Lehigh Acres are pretty rough. How is this area by comparison? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Avoid Lehigh Acres if you plan on growing old and staying in one piece.
Not trying to sound snarky or rain on your parade, but that place has more crime reports than almost any other in Lee co.

Lehigh Acres is crime ridden! Why would you risk your family's safety?

Let's not jump to conclusions. Maybe he's retiring from a career of being a murderous gang banger, but still wants to stay close to his roots. If so, Lehigh is perfect for him.

LOL!!! Nah, no gang banger here. Yikes! Is it still that bad? I had heard that it was improving in the last couple of years.

I've heard some say that parts of it aren't that bad, but that isn't the glowing endorsement that would draw me to live there. You can get a nice big house cheap, but i'd rather get less for the money and not live in a place where I didn't feel safe. I've never heard anyone say it's getting better.

Getting better??? Who said that??? That's not true at all. The price of homes and rentals are cheap for a reason and those cheap prices are attracting the ones I don't want for neighbors ( and you don't either).
