This is my first year as a Florida landlord. I have people who look after my house; a property manager, landscaper and pool guy. I live in NY where the norm is holiday tipping but I do not know if it's the same in Fl. So you guys who live here and have these types of services, do you tip for the holidays and if so typically how much?

I am in South Florida and we tip. Our lawn guy and pool guy get an extra $50 each. Hope this helps.

I think where i live it's the norm not to tip and people do not expect it.

When I had my fridge and stove brought in I tipped what I could
When I had furniture delivered I tipped what I could
When I had some furniture bought from a nice consignment shop I tipped.
When the cable guy had to dig a cable in the ground in the summer in Florida I tipped.

In all 4 cases the workers did not have their hands out and I had to chase them to give them the tip.

I can understand in the above cases where tipping may not be expected. These guys were just doing their job and more than likely you would never see them again. How ever if they go above and beyond what is expected I would certainly give a tip.
.
My lawn and pool guys show up every week and do a very good job. I live in NY and these guys are my ears and eyes on the property. I like the idea of giving them a little gift as a sign of appreciation an recognition of a job well done.

If you tip in NY why would you not tip in Fl? I honestly don't understand the question, if you are tipping because service is good.

Who cares if it's "the norm" for the area? If you can afford to tip, and the service is appreciated, then you should tip. If you tip in NY, then you certainly can in FL. The pay is crappier in FL, so the tips are more appreciated.

IMHO you should do what's in your heart. Even when renting, I tipped if I thought it was appropriate.
