I resided off Del Prado for a bit, near the canal on the south side.
That area will flood first as the eye wall moves in from the south, then the western portion this evening.
People don't understand that size of storm is the determining factor.
The Cape has at least some elevation, north half should escape the worst according to the latest surge inundation map.

I'll wager some think they are dealing with another Charlie, which had almost no surge.
They will be needing a fleet of front end loaders to un-bury FMB and Sanibel.

This camera will show the storm surge in a few hours, was setup by a hurricane hunter:
Marco Island, FL on USTREAM: Live storm surge cam . Breaking News

He even included a depth gauge for our viewing pleasure.

From the news reports the main concern is the storm surge (which seem work similar to a tsunami when ocean first sucks the water away from the shore and then comes back in a much larger quantity) in a few hours from now. I am quite concerned for my elderly friends who decided not to evacuate from their home which is in evaculation zone A. Their neighbors (who also didn't evacuate) convinced them that being that they were elderly they were better at home than in a local shelter.

WHY have you stayed? Do you think your walmart furnishings are so precious that imaginary looters are going to help themselves?
May your ammunition be waterlogged in no time.
