It sure as heck isn't good paying jobs, education or healthcare or good weather...
They can have that entire backwards area, good luck swimming in the gulf without catching some long lasting health issue...

I don't understand why. I can't wait until my wife retires in a couple years to leave this area. Too much traffic, too many snowbirds, Filthy water, poor schools, ****ty low paying jobs, ridiculously high rent, over-inflated real estate prices. I never realized any of this until I lived here.

For every person who bit**es about how bad it is here, there are 20 who love it. Is it for everyone, no, but certainly enough of us (especially those of us who have lived all over the country) know, NO PLACE is perfect.

Personally, I have been here since 1982 and will die here. Yes, the weather is hot in the Summer, but it is terrific in the late Fall to early Spring. A lot of people come here for a vacation, and we actually get to enjoy it year round.

Wages are what you make of them. I lived in Southern California, if you want to do a wage vs cost of living comparison, we are actually not so bad. Sure, if you work at a burger joint, you might be on the low end of the pay spectrum, but there are plenty of good jobs here and lots of opportunities.

There is a reason that this area is booming and construction is hot once more, and it isn't because people are fleeing the area.

My friends and I visited the area extensively (rented there for a year) before deciding it wasn't the right place. The algae bloom isn't helping the area either. And, I don't see it on the list of cities in the job growth dept either

Just sold, more like gave away, my property in Lehigh Acres. I did notice many lots selling but for very low prices. If that area is getting ready to “boom” I’d be very surprised. Just read somewhere Lehigh is the 7th fastest growing area in America. Really? My investment sure didn’t reflect that!

Well, if you read all the comments and posts on Lehigh Acres, that should tell you something.
