The cape is rolling in dough with all the building going on.. more taxes paid to the city . On Pine Island and 24th ave their are a huge amount of condos being built.. there will be thousands more people paying taxes. Homes being built all around the cape.. Yet I hear that rents are sky high here again. A young family will struggle to pay the rent again. New renters in my neighborhood are paying $1800 for a home built in the late eighties. It is one of the oldest homes in the neighborhood and nothing great to speak about.

That's a little high for this area and rents have gone up a lot recently.

WHen I moved to Cape Coral and lived with a roommate for a few months in January of 2016 he was paying $850 for a big 2/2 half a duplex with a huge master bedroom on a canal near City Hall.

I then bought a small older 3/1 that was renting for $675 and now a small older 2/1 down the block is renting for $950 in North Fort Myers.

Out of curiosity do you know how much they are selling for?

disagree.... according to citydata . Cape Coral's median income is 57k. that's 7k higher than florida average and 31 percent increase vs 2000. based on that income and having no income tax $1500 is pretty much in line. obviously median means half make more half make less. I was basing off a 3 bed 2 bed 1800 sq ft house so someone making less can afford a smaller house/ apartment someone needing 3 beds likely would be married and having dual incomes.
